    At Arlington Community Schools

Teachers and staff at Arlington & Donelson Elementary Schools set the foundation for our youngest learners by offering creative, rigourous, supportive and encouraging environments. Beyond core subjects such as math, English Language Arts, social studies and science, both elementary schools also have full-time STEM teachers, two full-time school counselors, weekly art, music and physical education classes and biweekly library and guidance classes.

Our curriculum is based on the TN Department of Education State Academic Standards. Our locally developed ACS curriculum guides provide an outline of our curriculum and a recommended teaching order for a particular course/grade-level. These documents provide the basis for what teachers will teach and students will learn in the classrooms throughout ACS.

The district has also created a K-5 Foundational Literacy Skills Plan, which outlines our focus on improving literacy outcomes for students.
