    At Doneslon Elementary

Being committed to healthy, productive and physically-active lives, we will provide every student with a variety of challenges that will contribute to the development and maintenance of their physical, cognitive and affective well-being. We stress the importance of Physical Education at an early age, as it is a lifelong process, so we want to give our students the tools and mindset to lead a healthy life. From the values of physical activity to the knowledge of movement and space awareness, students will learn to apply physical education concepts to everyday life.

Perhaps most critical, DES believes fundamentally the importance of teaching personal and social responsibility through P.E. Students will learn about respect for self and others, how to give respectful feedback to peers and learn to encourage others.

Mrs. Heather Butler- P.E. Teacher

I have been teaching PE at Donelson Elementary since our school opened.  I love helping our Bulldogs see the value of being physically active throughout their lives by creating fun, new experiences for them in PE.  My husband and I have two sons who are married.  We are happy that they live nearby so that we can enjoy spending time with our four darling grandchildren!   I also enjoy walking, riding bikes, reading, and eating chocolate Turtles!

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Randy, for almost 37 years. We love the beach, and our favorite place to go is Hilton Head Island, SC. We are fans of the Memphis Tigers! I have a twin sister, Cathy. She lives in Georgia, and we talk every single day!

I started my PE teaching career in 1985. I have taught PE in Georgia, Connecticut, and Tennessee. This will be my 12th year at Donelson!

I believe that Physical Education plays a very important role in educating our students! Physical Education can help students develop a variety of physical and social skills, sportsmanship, participation in games, and activities. Other subject areas such as math and language arts are often integrated into the student’s lessons. I look forward to helping our students develop a joy for moving!
