• Ankle Foot Orthosis Challenge

An orthotics clinic creates supports and braces for people with a variety of physical needs.  Products they create must be customized for specific areas of the body.  The design challenge for the ankle foot orthosis required students to design an orthosis that must be sized to fit each unique client.  Their orthosis must help a patient with spastic hemiplegia, a muscular disorder associated with cerebral palsy.  After students designed their orthosis, they presented them to the class and a panel of experts. The panel of professionals gave the students feedback on their design.

    • Digital Logo Design

The students at AMS created their own brand and designed the logo for their project based off their brand name. Students learned how the design process works, including how the image found in their logo should reflect the name of their brand. Students used the programs of Sketches School and Pages to create their logo and learned real world, tangible skills that will aid them in future business endeavors or college level graphic design courses.

Students created their own logo using Sketches School and pages and understand the fundamentals of graphic design. Including Typography (Fonts,) Gradients (Color), PPI Resolution, and intellectual property.

Students also received a presentation by graphic designer David Zachery where he discussed previous graphic design commissions he has received as well as his creation process as a working graphic designer.

      • "iPads help me learn by providing tools and applications that help me in class. I can be more productive, creative, and efficient on my iPad than I would be with pencil and paper. Keynote is one of the apps I use for class. It lets me create a slideshow to study vocabulary words or to present information. I really like having my iPad to use for school."
