Dr. Allison Clark, who has served as Arlington Middle School’s principal for the past decade, has been selected as Chief of Human Resources for Arlington Community Schools. This new position was created following Jeff Mayo’s promotion from Chief of Staff to Superintendent.

“Dr. Clark brings to this position the meticulous organizational skills needed in Human Resources as well as expansive school human resources management experience in all facets,” Mayo said. “She also has previous successful experience in the Central Office space and school administration in both middle and high schools. I’m excited to have an experienced school principal join our district office team.”

Dr. Clark was named principal of Arlington Middle School in June 2010, where she has led more than 80 employees, and at one time in the school’s history over 1,200 students. Prior to her role as AMS Principal, she served as the Math Supervisor for Shelby County Schools, held the roles of high school assistant and vice principal, and taught high school math. Dr. Clark’s leadership at AMS has helped the school earn several recognitions, including Top 10 Middle Schools in Shelby County, and most recently, 7th in Achievement in the entire state. She was also instrumental in piloting the district’s 1:1 iPad initiative, a program that helped AMS become an Apple Distinguished School.

“I love ACS and believe in the mission that we bring to our students and families, so I’m very excited to continue serving our district in this new role,” Clark said. “We already have outstanding employees, and now I’ll have this incredible opportunity to promote ACS and bring even more incredible educators and staff to ACS.”

“I’ll definitely miss the relationships with my coworkers, students and families and watching them grow in their lives,” Clark continued. “AMS has been my home for a decade now, so it will always be a part of me…but I’ll only be right down the road.”

Dr. Clark begins her new position on July 1.
