AMS Volleyball Takes on Houston at Home

The JV team kept to their winning ways against Houston Monday, despite the ball not always bouncing their way.  This was the first set the Lady Tigers have dropped all season, and it served as a wake-up call for them, winning the first set 25-21, but falling short in the 2nd 8-25 in a set where AMS had trouble serving and receiving serve, but the team made a comeback and took the third set and match with aggressive net play by Adalyn LeMay and Addison Cannady, including two key blocks from LeMay.

Jenna Reeves’ serving continues to make a big impact for her team, along with Emma Chamberlain in the clutch.  Charli Wiggins also showed mental grit by making some key kills and serves in the 15-9 win in the third set and bringing the Lady Tigers their fourth district win in a row, and their ninth win in a row overall!  Fantastic start for this feisty and talented JV team!

The Varsity team faced a tough Houston team on Monday while seeking to bounce back from last week.  Gracyn Posey was tough from the serving line, while Maggie Sanders added some key kills and serves to win the first set 25-19.

In the second set, Houston capitalized on some Arlington mistakes, but Lola Benfield’s aggressive net play kept the Tigers in the set. Posey got on a roll and was lethal at the net, and Kaelyn Brown came through with some key kills in the middle, but Houston stole the second set 23-25, send the match into a third set.

Adelyn Price did her thing in the backrow scooping up everything the Lady Mustangs were trying to put down and had some key serves.  As they moved through the third set, the momentum began to swing the way of the Tigers, as Lola Benfield served “lights out” and shut down Houston to take the third set 15-9. Benfield also had some key digs in the backrow to set up some key points.
