Congratulations to Rochelle Douglas for being named the ACS Supervisor of the Year! As the Chief of Accountability and Student Services, Ms. Douglas oversees a number of departments and initiatives that help support students and staff, such as state testing and school performance data, enrollment and registration, professional development and so much more. She also manages the budget for millions of dollars in federal COVID-19 funds, which has made a direct impact on instruction, personnel, facilities and maintenance, health & safety and other areas that affect district operations.

“Ms. Douglas is always the ‘out-of-the-box thinker’ on our team,” said Superintendent Jeff Mayo. “She manages to provide a different, yet valuable, perspective on everything she touches, and that makes us collectively better.”

This past year in a time when most districts across the state experienced learning loss due to COVID-19, ACS, overall, maintained learning expectations and growth. Mayo credits, in part, Ms. Douglas. “She may not be in the classroom teaching students, but the way she skillfully unpacks testing data and helps customize professional development based on those results unquestionably helps our students grow,” Mayo said. “Her attention to detail is impeccable.”

As someone who leads multiple departments and a team of employees, she’s even earned the nickname “Never Say No Rochelle.” “She’s a supporter, and that’s what I love about her,” said Trassey Evans, Supervisor of Middle School & Federal Programs. “She’s not the type to say no. She works with you to improve the idea. She is a person who models what a leader should be. She doesn’t hover and instead allows the department to take ideas and run with them. She’s one to say anything is fixable and always helps you grow.”

Ms. Douglas will now be submitted for the regional and state Supervisor of the Year competition as she represents ACS over the next year.
