Arlington Community Schools has been named the #1 Top Workplace in the entire Memphis-Metro region by The Commercial Appeal Top Workplaces program! The list of Top Workplaces is based solely on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous survey, which measures various aspects of the organization including values, employee appreciation, job meaningfulness, innovation, execution, open-mindedness, among other indicators.

Only 46 companies in the Memphis-Metro region made this year’s list. Out of those 46 companies, ACS was named the #1 Top Workplace in the Large Employer Division, which includes organizations and businesses that employ more than 350 people. ACS also won a specialty award for having the most Meaningful workplace among the 46 companies.

“I can’t begin to express the thankfulness, humility and pride I have for our employees voting Arlington Community Schools a Top Workplace,” said Superintendent Jeff Mayo. “This award is particularly special because our employees are the judges; they’ve collectively said ACS is a great place to work. Being named a Top Workplace doesn’t make us perfect, but it inspires us to pinpoint our weaknesses to make it an even better place to work and grow a career.”

Earlier this year, more than 400 ACS employees completed the anonymous survey that asked about the district’s culture and climate, compensation and benefits and the overall direction of the school district. Those results were then compared to survey results from employees in other organizations and businesses across the region to populate the list of Top Workplaces.

“For most people, the workplace is a second home – we spend more time here sometimes than our own homes,” Mayo added. “For that reason, it’s important to me that leaders in ACS are always working towards making our district a desirable place to not only work a job but to grow as people and professionals by having a strong support system. It’s the people who work here that make ACS a Top Workplace. Their spirit of support, positivity and innovation and their never-ending focus on doing what’s best for students have created common goals and values that speak more to being a Top Workplace than anything else ever could.”

ACS and the entire list of Memphis Top Workplaces will be featured in a special section of The Commercial Appeal on Sunday, December 19th.
